What is Authentic Movement?
Authentic Movement is a powerful practice in which a person makes a conscious choice to be a mover while being accompanied by a compassionate and non-judgmental witness (teacher/therapist). The movers follow their inner impulse and choose to move or be still and explore sounds, space, sensations, images or memories in their movement experience. Having a compassionate witness to support their journey can make the mover’s experience safe and possible to integrates the mind, body and spirit.
How does Authentic Movement benefit the participant?
Authentic Movement can benefit individuals to foster self-awareness and emotional expression of which the body-mind connection and a sense of healing is developed. In addition, within the practice. of Authentic Movement, our non-judgemental inner witness will gradually develop and lead us to new freedom. This freedom serves as a great resources to self care as well as to nurture creativity which reflects all human beings' natural artistry.
About Yu-Ling Hu
Yu-Ling Hu is a Board-Certified Dance/Movement Therapist (BC-DMT) with the American Dance Therapy Association and she also completed the Graduate Laban Certification and Movement Analysis (GLCMA) program.
Yu-Ling began studying Authentic Movement with Susan Cahill in 2010 and completed the postgraduate program Circles of Four, founded by Janet Adler, becoming a blessed teacher of the Discipline of Authentic Movement.
Yu-Ling teaches Authentic Movement both in person and online, working with students from the United States, Taiwan, and other countries.
